Free DR Congo

Child Labor and Exploitation

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, thousands of children are forced to work in dangerous cobalt and gold mines, essential for the global tech industry. These children face toxic exposure, hazardous conditions, and abandonment, often paying the ultimate price for the world’s demand for minerals. This exploitation robs them of their childhood, health, and future.

Our Action:

We aim to rescue children from these dire conditions, provide them with education, rehabilitation, and a safe environment, while advocating for ethical mining practices to protect future generations.

Deforestation and Environmental Destruction
The Congo Basin, Earth's second-largest rainforest, loses over 1 million hectares annually due to deforestation.

This destruction accelerates climate change and threatens species like gorillas and forest elephants.

Our Action:
-
Supporting reforestation projects to restore lost forests.
-
Advocating for sustainable practices and indigenous land protection.

Resource Exploitation and Illegal Mining
Key Facts:
-
The Congo holds over 60% of the world’s cobalt, a critical mineral for smartphones and EVs.
-
Illegal mining and smuggling of gold, copper, and timber fuel conflict and environmental destruction.
-
Children as young as 7 work in toxic cobalt mines, exposed to deadly conditions.
Our Action:

Advocating for ethical sourcing of minerals to end child labor.
-
Providing clean water and education to affected communities.
Human Displacement

Our Distinct Key Initiatives
Our mission in the Congo focuses on three critical initiatives: ending child exploitation by providing education and safe alternatives to dangerous mining; healing displaced communities through emergency aid, shelter, and long-term recovery support; and restoring the environment by funding reforestation projects and protecting the Congo Basin rainforest from illegal mining and deforestation.
Together, we can create lasting change for the people, wildlife, and future of the Congo.

Beneficiary
After we lost our home to conflict, my family had nowhere to turn. This organization gave us food, water, and a place to stay. They also helped my son start school again. I don’t know what we would have done without them. Thank you for bringing hope back into our lives."
